NetEase has revealed some new details about the upcoming Destiny Rising Closed Beta Test. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s coming!
Destiny: Rising is getting ready to kick off its big Closed Beta. The official announcement dropped earlier this week, confirming that the Closed Beta starts May 29 on Google Play. After months of waiting since the last alpha, players are finally about to get hands-on with a bunch of new content and features, including some surprises.
NetEase Games, the team behind Destiny: Rising, has been working behind the scenes on a bunch of new updates, and now they’re finally ready to show us what’s next. This beta features some major new features and two new characters joining the roster.
In this article, we’ll go over everything you can look forward to when the Closed Beta launches later this month.
What’s New in Destiny: Rising’s Closed Beta?
All of these details come from the brand-new NetEase developer blog, posted this week, which gave us the first full look at what’s arriving in the Closed Beta. Here’s what you can look forward to:
A Brand New Destination: Red Sea Rift
The biggest addition to Destiny: Rising in this beta is a completely new destination called the Red Sea Rift. This location acts as a key spot during the Golden Age and is now full of secrets after the Collapse. Players will travel to the settlement of Veridia. Here’s how the developer describes this location:
“With global communications having been reestablished through the Jiangshi Metro network, Wolf and Radegast have intercepted an encrypted transmission originating from the Red Sea Rift, where a formidable ally awaits: Lord Saladin.
“During the Golden Age, the Red Sea served as an important conduit for commerce and technological exchange between nations. But the Collapse changed everything, leaving behind remnants of a powerful entity—a Sentinel.
“Nobody knows exactly how it was destroyed, but the energy remaining in its components has helped humanity establish a foothold—the settlement of Veridia—and discover a Light-infused metal called Radiancite, making this region a vital munition supplier for Haven.”
New Campaign
The Red Sea Rift also features a new campaign. You’ll be stepping in as “Radegast’s envoy to the town of Veridia, which is currently under siege by the Cabal.” Along the way, you’ll make some key alliances, including with Iron Lord Saladin and Union President Harrow.
Destiny Rising Closed Beta: New Lightbearers
Two new Lightbearers will join the roster in the Destiny Rising Closed Beta Test: Xuan Wei and Umeko.
Here’s a quick overview of both of these new characters:
- Xuan Wei uses Arc abilities. His Super, Juggernaut’s Dominance, turns him into a “primordial divine beast” that unleashes “devastating claw strikes that crush enemies while forcefully repelling them across the battlefield.”
- Umeko uses Void energy abilities. Her Super, Singularity Shuriken “slice through space itself, creating a brief singularity to destroy her foes.”
New Strikes and Challenges
The Destiny Rising Closed Beta Test also features two new Strikes, Nexus Interface, and The Foundry.
For those who want something tougher, the beta brings in Master difficulty for some activities. “We’re introducing Master difficulty across selected activities,” the blog reads. “These heightened challenges demand precise coordination, optimized builds, and strategic thinking—but the rewards are worth the risk. Exclusive weapons, materials, and many treasures await those brave enough to face these trials.”
And for something a little lighter, the social hub of Haven has been expanded. Now you can pet cats, play soccer, try the “Go Ghost Go” mini-game, and even fish for rare prizes with the game’s first fishing system.
Clans will also see new ways to work together through Pack Hunt activities and faster progression for exclusive Wolf Den rewards.
Dual Wielding and Exotic Weapons
One of the most exciting changes for fans is the complete overhaul of sidearms. Now, they’re dual-wielded by default. Gwynn’s loadout has been rebalanced to make the most of this new weapon style.
Fusion Rifles have also been redesigned for easier use on mobile devices, with improved targeting to help keep your aim steady on a touchscreen.
New Exotic Weapons in Destiny Rising Closed Beta Test:
There are also two new Destiny Rising-exclusive exotic weapons coming in the Closed Beta test. These are Furies III and Concerto. Check a quick overview of both of them below:
- Furies III Pulse Rifle: This Solar pulse rifle’s firing rate ramps up as you continue firing, with consecutive strikes surrounding the target with criticality markers. Precision hits to these markers unleash massive amplified damage.
- Concerto Sidearm: Despite its compact frame, this weapon packs menacing power. Its unique Exotic trait, “Concertino,” allows it to temporarily boost the damage output of your equipped Power weapon, creating devastating combo potential.
On top of that, you’ll get a preview of new cosmetics, including character sets, weapon ornaments, and more, during the beta test.
Destiny Rising Beta Details: Region, Access, and Progression
If you’re hoping to jump in, here’s what you need to know:
- Start Date: May 29 on Google Play.
- Progress: Anything you earn or unlock in the beta won’t carry over to the full game.
- Region: The beta is available in the U.S. and Canada only.
- In-App Purchases: Yes, you’ll be able to buy things in this test.
- Device Requirements: Best on Snapdragon 845 or better.
