Take-Two’s CEO says the company “fully expects” to support Nintendo Switch 2 and that the idea that Nintendo is just for kids is outdated.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially revealed last month, and fans are counting down the days until its full reveal. After months of speculation and leaks, Nintendo finally pulled back the curtain on the Switch successor, with a dedicated Direct set for April.
While details on the system’s power and specs remain under wraps, one of the biggest questions on people’s minds is whether the industry’s biggest games will land on the new platform. And what’s bigger than Grand Theft Auto 6?
With Rockstar’s highly anticipated game launching later this year, many are wondering if Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind GTA, will support Nintendo’s upcoming system.
Take-Two Plans to Support Nintendo Switch 2
We now have a clearer idea of Take-Two’s stance, thanks to comments from CEO Strauss Zelnick. Speaking during a recent earnings call, Zelnick confirmed that the company expects to support the Switch 2 moving forward.
While he didn’t outright confirm GTA 6 for the platform, he made it clear that Take-Two sees a lot of value in Nintendo’s growing audience. “We’ve had obviously a long-standing relationship with Nintendo,” Zelnick said. “We’ve supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release.”
Zelnick also addressed the idea that Nintendo’s platforms are only for younger players. According to him, that era is over.
“There was a time when Nintendo platforms are really geared at younger audiences and that was reflected in our release schedule. And now today with Switch and potentially with Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience.
“As you may have noted, Civilization 7 is now on Switch. So while we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch [2].”
While there’s no confirmation of GTA 6 making its way to Nintendo’s next system, it’s clear that Take-Two isn’t ruling out future support. Meanwhile, Zelnick also reaffirmed that GTA 6 is still on track for a Fall 2025 release. Despite concerns from fans about a potential delay, Take-Two remains confident in its schedule, though the CEO did acknowledge that “there’s always a risk of slippage.”
