A new Halo leak claims full remakes of Halo 2 and 3 are in development with modern mechanics and sprint, while Halo 7 will reportedly serve as the franchise’s new standalone multiplayer game.
After months of leaks and reports, Halo Studios finally broke its silence earlier this month by announcing Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved from 2001. The project is being built in Unreal Engine 5, described as a complete rebuild rather than a remaster, and it’s coming in 2026 to Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), and PlayStation 5, marking the first time a mainline Halo campaign launches outside the Xbox ecosystem.
That announcement alone was enough to reignite the franchise’s fanbase. But now, it seems Microsoft may not be stopping with just one remake, and the latest rumor suggests that could be exactly the case.

New report claims Halo 2 and Halo 3 are also getting full remakes
According to a post shared by well-known Halo leaks account leaks_infinite on X (formerly Twitter), both Halo 2 and Halo 3 are currently being rebuilt from the ground up as full campaign remakes. The post adds that these new versions will feature modern movement mechanics, including sprint, but will not include any multiplayer modes.
Instead, the account claims all future Halo PvP will be funneled into a separate project: Halo 7.
“Halo 2 & Halo 3 are being remade, yes, they will have sprint,” the post reads. “No multiplayer, only campaign. Full remakes. Multiplayer is going to be Halo 7.”

If true, this would mean Halo Studios is completely separating story and PvP experiences moving forward, delivering the original trilogy’s campaigns as standalone remakes, while shifting its multiplayer focus to a new title altogether.
It’s important to remember, though, that nothing about these alleged remakes has been officially confirmed by Halo Studios or Microsoft. As always, take this with a grain of salt until something official surfaces.
In the official reveal of Campaign Evolved, Halo Studios made it clear that the future of Halo isn’t locked to Xbox alone. During the announcement, community director Brian Jarrard stated, “Halo is on PlayStation going forward, starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved.”
That confirmation opens the door for the reported remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 to launch on PlayStation as well, meaning if the leak is accurate, fans on PS5 could be playing those next-gen campaign remakes alongside Xbox and PC players, rather than being left out.
This latest claim lines up with previous reports that Halo Studios is developing a standalone, live-service multiplayer Halo game in Unreal Engine 5, a project insiders have compared to Fortnite in terms of long-term seasonal support and updates.
