Marvel Rivals sets a new peak player record on Steam after the highly anticipated Season 1 launch.

Marvel Rivals has been making waves since its global release late last year, and its momentum shows no signs of slowing down. With its beautiful art style and rich superhero roster, the game has captured the hearts of fans across platforms.

The excitement hit a new high with the launch of Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, introducing new characters like the Fantastic Four. Recent leaks and rumors had already hinted at some big names joining the roster, but few could have predicted just how big this update would be.

And now, there’s even more reason for celebration: Marvel Rivals has smashed its own concurrent player record on Steam, further solidifying its place as one of the biggest games of the year.

Marvel Rivals Steam Population: New All-Time High Player Record

As of right now, Marvel Rivals has hit a new all-time high concurrent player record on Steam with a total of 511,631 players playing the game. This breaks its previous record of 480,000 players set during the game’s launch. This makes it not only the game’s personal best but also one of the standout player milestones in 2024.

Considering this number is just for Steam, the total player count across all platforms is likely far higher. Since the game is also available on PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store, the total number of players could easily go over 1 million playing at once.

However, not all the news has been met with applause. It appears NetEase implemented a strict ban on mods with the Season 1 update. Players who previously used mods to customize their characters with non-Marvel skins, like Batman or Vegeta, were left disappointed.

According to NetEase, modifying game files violates policies and poses security risks. “It is not recommended to modify any game files, as doing so carries the risk of getting banned,” NetEase told IGN.
