Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 update launches with six new Team-Up abilities, removes several old favorites, and introduces Ultron as a playable villain.

Marvel Rivals fans, get ready! Season 2.5 is almost here, and it’s easily one of the most exciting updates the game has seen. This patch is making big waves for a few reasons. Not only is the powerful villain Ultron joining the fight as a playable character, but there’s also a huge shakeup happening with Team-Up abilities. The update officially goes live on May 30, 2025, so you won’t have to wait long to see these changes in action.

There’s been a lot of talk in the community about what’s coming, and for good reason. Ultron isn’t just showing up as a new villain, he’s bringing some serious changes to how battles play out. Plus, the developers have listened to feedback and decided to completely rework Team-Up abilities.

They’ve added brand new combos, brought in fresh strategies, and even removed some fan-favorites that players have used since day one.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Update: All New Team-Ups Detailed

All this information comes straight from the latest Dev Vision Vol. 06 video posted on the official Marvel Rivals YouTube channel, along with official patch notes and early previews. Team-Up abilities are one of the most unique features in Marvel Rivals, letting specific hero pairs pull off special moves or give each other unique boosts.

With this new 2.5 update, more than half of all Team-Up abilities in the game have been changed compared to how things started at launch. Here’s how it all breaks down:

Season 2.5 adds six brand-new Team-Ups. Each one brings its own twist, giving players all sorts of new ways to work together and change up their strategies. Here’s a list of all the new team-ups:

  • Symbiaote Shenanigans – Venom and Jeff The Land Shark
  • Operation: Microchip – The Punisher and Black Widow
  • Chilling Assault – Luna Snow and Hawkeye

Symbiote Shenanigans – Venom and Jeff the Land Shark

Venom steps up as the main anchor in this combo. He now shares part of his symbiote power with Jeff, letting Jeff use tendrils to link up with teammates and heal them during fights. This is a whole new take on support, especially if you love playing as either character.

Operation: Microchip – The Punisher and Black Widow

The Punisher has upgraded Black Widow’s famous Red Room rifle. Now, when Black Widow aims down sights, she can unleash a piercing energy beam that goes straight through enemies.

This upgrade means you’ll want to rethink how you play Widow, especially in the heat of battle.

Chilling Assault – Luna Snow and Hawkeye

Luna Snow is powering up Hawkeye with a brand-new ice arrow. This arrow can travel right through cover, and the farther it flies, the more damage it does. Even better, if it hits someone from far enough away, it can actually stun the enemy.

Rocket Network – Peni Parker and Rocket Raccoon

Rocket has engineered a new Bionic Spider Nest for Peni Parker. What makes this special is that it can exist alongside Peni’s original nest, and it also drops Armor Packs for teammates. At the same time, Penny has upgraded Rocket’s Battle Rebirth Beacon, now spawns Spider-Webs, Spider-Drones, and even Arachno-Mines.

Keep in mind that the enhanced Beacon and the original one can’t be activated at the same time.

Stark Protocol – Iron Man and Ultron

Iron Man now lets Ultron tap into his armor’s power, giving Ultron the ability to fire lasers that pierce through everything, damaging enemies and healing allies at the same time. It’s the perfect combo for teams that want to keep pushing forward.

Jeff-Nado – Jeff The Land Shark and Storm

When both Storm and Jeff have their ultimates ready, they can combine to unleash the Jeff-Nado. Storm commands this swirling shark tornado, dealing damage over time and finishing by devouring enemies in its path.

Team-Ups Removed in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5

Not every combo survived the update. Four Team-Up abilities have been completely removed:

  • Cheering Charisma
  • Allied Agents
  • Ammo Overload
  • Symbiote Bond

On top of that, Iron Man is being removed from the Gamma Charge Team-Up. These removals mean some classic combos are gone, so you’ll want to experiment with the new setups instead.
