Looks like Destiny Rising, the new Destiny mobile game by NetEase and Bungie, is an MMORPG with “high standards,” according to a former employee’s LinkedIn profile.

Over the last couple of days, there have been a lot of rumors about the Destiny mobile game from NetEase and Bungie, which, according to insider reports, is titled “Destiny Rising.”

Now, it looks like we have some more details about this upcoming project. According to a LinkedIn profile of a former NetEase employee, Garcia Anotts, the NetEase’s Destiny project appears to be an “MMORPG” with “high standards,” featuring both first and third-person combat, similar to Destiny 2.

Anotts worked at NetEase Games as an engineer from 2018 until 2021. The job description on the profile states, “I worked on Destiny IP, a project developed jointly by Netease & Bungie. It’s a MMOFPS/TPS+RPG game, with high standards. My main responsibilities are logic programming, system development, level gameplay implementation, and framework optimization.”

Destiny Rising: An MMORPG with Hero Characters?

Although details have been limited, this new information strengthens the recent claims that a Destiny project is indeed in development at NetEase, offering fans a clearer picture of what to expect from this mobile spin-off set in the Destiny universe.

However, given that a significant amount of time has passed since the employee left the company, it’s possible the game has gone through substantial changes since then.

Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb corroborated the rumors that Destiny Rising is being spearheaded primarily by NetEase, with minimal Bungie involvement. Grubb noted that this Destiny mobile game would feature hero characters rather than allowing players to create their own, with an announcement coming soon.

There’s also a rumor circulating that Sony might hold a State of Play event on September 19, with a potential PS5 Pro announcement expected soon. While this hasn’t been officially confirmed, some speculate that we could see Destiny Rising revealed during the event.
