We’ve finally gotten our first look at the brand-new Sony’s PlayStation 5 console in yesterday’s reveal event. The event itself was just above an hour-long with very interesting game announcements. Unfortunately, Sony didn’t reveal how much the PS5 would be priced this holiday season and when consumers can expect the release of this next-gen hardware. Here are our predictions for the PlayStation 5 price and the pre-order window.
PlayStation 5 Price: How Much Would PS5 Cost?
As of now, Sony has yet to officially reveal the price for PS5. According to some insider sources, and reports from Bloomberg News, the predicted price of PlayStation 5 will be around $499 / £449 / AU$749, depending on your region.
As for the disc-less PlayStation 5 digital-only edition, it’s safe to assume that it would cost $50/£50 cheaper than the normal console with Blue-Ray drive.
In an interview with GI.biz, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO Jim Ryan talked about the on-going speculations regarding the PlayStation 5 price. “I think the best way that we can address this is by providing the best possible value proposition that we can. I don’t necessarily mean the lowest price. Value is a combination of many things. In our area it means games, it means the number of games, depth of games, breadth of games, quality of games, price of games… all of these things and how they avail themselves of the feature set of the platform.”
It’s safe to say that the PlayStation 5 will cost $100 to $150 more than the cost of the PlayStation 4 at launch, which was $399.
PlayStation 5 Pre-Orders: When Can You Pre-Order PS5?
With the console design and other accessories officially revealed, our guess is that Sony will start taking pre-orders for the PS5 starting July 2020. We’ll be getting more details on the price and the pre-order dates from Sony later this summer.
