Bungie introduced the first-ever live event in Destiny 2 in Season of the Worthy. The event revolved around the Almighty (a Cabal superweapon) crashing down in the Last City and Warmind Rasputin blasting it out in the sky. Since then, players have been asking when they can expect more live events in Destiny 2.
Yesterday during The Last Word podcast, Tom Farnsworth, Creative Lead at Bungie, talked about the creative process behind seasonal content in Destiny 2.
When asked when if they have plans for more live events in the future, Farnsworth replied, “I think part of it is [that] we have to find a moment where it makes sense for the story”.
“There really needs to be something of that scale. It’s hard to set up world-ending events over and over and over.”
Speaking with Axios, Destiny 2’s General Manager Justin Truman described the Season of the Lost’s Exorcism mission (seasonal finale) as “a Destiny version of a live event”.
More Destiny 2 Live Events Coming Soon?
It’s hard to say anything right now as we don’t have any details on the next Destiny 2 live event. Similar to The Witch Queen, we know that Lightfall, the next big expansion in Destiny 2 will feature some major in-game world changes.
The second Traveler’s Awakening live event in Destiny 2 happened in Season of Arrivals right before the servers went offline for the Beyond Light launch.
