A new Marathon-themed Sparrow has been found in Destiny 2’s game files after the launch of Episode Heresy.

Destiny 2’s latest content update, Episode Heresy, is finally here, bringing players back to one of the most iconic locations in the series—the Dreadnaught. This long-awaited return has had players excited, but there’s another Bungie-related project that’s been on everyone’s radar: Marathon.

The upcoming extraction shooter has had plenty of speculation surrounding it, especially regarding when pre-orders might go live. Last year, dataminers found a text string in Destiny 2’s files hinting at a possible Marathon pre-order bonus, and now, we may have our first real look at what that could be.

Datamine Reveals New Marathon-Themed Cosmetics in Destiny 2

Shortly after Episode Heresy launched, players started digging through the new update. According to leaks from the BungieLeaks Discord server, a new Marathon-themed Sparrow has been added to Destiny 2. While it hasn’t been officially announced, it’s possible that this could be part of a Marathon pre-order bonus.

The Sparrow itself features clear references to Marathon’s universe, most notably with its UESC branding. Take a look below.

This isn’t the first time Destiny 2 has featured Marathon-inspired cosmetics, Bungie previously released a Runner Mask during the Festival of the Lost 2024 annual event. Given that earlier datamines hinted at Marathon pre-orders going live during Episode Heresy, this newly found Sparrow could be part of the bonus for Destiny 2 players.

Of course, it’s important to take leaks with a grain of salt. Bungie hasn’t confirmed anything yet, and there’s always the chance that this is simply another Marathon-themed cosmetic with no direct connection to the game’s launch or pre-orders.

Adding to the speculation, rumors suggest a PlayStation State of Play is set for Valentine’s week, where many are hoping to see a new Marathon gameplay trailer. Last year, The Game Post reported that Marathon is no longer free-to-play, instead targeting a $40 launch price.
