A new Nintendo Direct might be happening next month around the Switch 2’s launch, according to a new report.
Nintendo’s next-gen console, the Switch 2, is almost here, and the hype is off the charts. After months of speculation, teases, and leaks, fans are counting down the days to its official launch on June 5, 2025. With upgraded specs, an updated design, and new features like customizable controls and performance enhancements, it’s no surprise people are keeping a close eye on every update.
In fact, the excitement is so intense that retailers in Japan have already had to limit pre-orders due to overwhelming demand. Stores like Joshin have put tough restrictions in place, including lottery systems and spending thresholds, just to qualify for a chance to pre-order the console.
Analysts estimate Nintendo will only have around 800,000 to a million units ready for Japan at launch, while demand is expected to be several times higher.
New Nintendo Direct Reportedly Set for Switch 2 Launch Window
Now, a new rumor claims that Nintendo isn’t done just yet; a new Nintendo Direct presentation is reportedly scheduled to happen either during the launch week of the Switch 2 or shortly after. This info comes from Pedro Lippe, a known Brazilian journalist and content creator.
During a livestream on his tvPH YouTube channel earlier today, he mentioned that a new Direct is in the works, and it’ll likely land very close to the console’s release. While Lippe didn’t go into exact details about what the presentation will cover, it’s expected to shine a spotlight on upcoming games for the Switch 2.
Titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and even third-party titles are expected to show up, especially since fans have been waiting years for updates on those projects.
Keep in mind, though, none of this has been officially confirmed by Nintendo, so as always, it’s smart to take things with a grain of salt.
That said, tvPH has a good track record of insider information when it comes to Nintendo. Apart from that, Nintendo has also confirmed the exact details on the free upgrades that current Switch titles will get for the Switch 2, including better resolution and performance.
There have also been some rumors that a new system update could add paid and free home screen themes on Switch 2, letting players customize their consoles in new ways.
