A new rumor is making the rounds about Marvel Rivals Season 3, teasing a new hero, event, map, and game modes.
Marvel Rivals has been one of the more exciting PvP team-based shooters to drop in the recent months, blending fast-paced Overwatch-style gameplay with iconic Marvel characters. Since the start of Season 2, players have seen two big additions to the roster: Ultron and Emma Frost.
Season 2 is currently live and set to wrap up on July 11, 2025, if the Battle Pass timer is anything to go by. And while we’re still waiting on official details from NetEase, a new rumor may have just given us a sneak peek at who’s joining the fight in Season 3, and what else could be on the way.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 New Hero
The rumor comes from a Marvel Rivals YouTuber named Dylbobz. In a new video, they shared a handful of early Season 3 details, though we suggest taking everything with a grain of salt until officially confirmed.
In the new video, Dylbobz revealed that internal creator campaign materials confirm Phoenix (Jean Grey) will be the headline new hero in Season 3, launching on July 11. According to the message sent to creators:
“Celebrate the launch of Season 3 and the arrival of our new hero Phoenix, new map, new gameplay modes, and new in-game events like Summer Party Event!”
This leak confirms that Phoenix (Jean Grey) will be the game’s next Duelist-class hero. This would make her the seventh new character added to the game since launch. Given her powers and popularity in the Marvel universe, it’s not a stretch to imagine her being a big deal in both casual and competitive play.
Phoenix is said to have two forms: a standard human form with telekinetic powers and a powerful Phoenix form that grants flight and long-range firepower.
You can check out the rumored abilities for Phoenix/Jean Grey below:
- Class: Duelist with two forms (Human + Phoenix)
- Abilities:
- Human Form: Psychic Explosion, Telekinetic Transfer, Shattered Star Impact
- Phoenix Form: Phoenix Ray, Phoenix Wings Flying, Phoenix Punishment
- Rumored to have a “mute” effect that disables enemy abilities temporarily
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Leaks: Second Hero and Release Window
Season 3 will use a shorter release cadence, with each “half-season” lasting one month. That means a second new hero is expected around August 8. While not confirmed, Blade is the leading candidate based on in-game teases and voice line references.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 New Maps
According to the leaked info shared in the video, two new maps are coming in Season 3, both tied to the growing threat of Null:
- Klyntar Celestial Remains (first Half of Season 3)
- The Core (second Half of Season 3)
These maps expand the game’s cosmic lore and are expected to support narrative events tied to the Phoenix Force vs. Symbiote conflict.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 New Game Modes
New game modes are also officially on the way, per the leaked details. Based on existing game file leaks, possibilities include:
- Arm Race Deathmatch
- Capture the Flag
- Free Fight Attack and Defense
- Mystery Hero
- Rush
Dylbobz also suggested that NetEase is working on more casual-friendly permanent modes, to complement the current core offerings without relying solely on limited-time modes.
That’s not all the leak covers, though. Season 3 will feature a “Summer Party” event, likely themed around the upcoming Marvel Swimsuit Special comic launching July 9. That comic has already been confirmed to tie into Marvel Rivals via themed skins.
Again, none of this has been officially confirmed. So, it’s best to take everything with a big grain of salt until we hear more directly from NetEase.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Release Date
As of now, NetEase hasn’t officially revealed when Season 3 will begin. But based on the current Battle Pass and Season 2 timeline, we’re likely looking at a launch date of July 11, 2025, or very shortly after.
