EA has dropped a new update for Battlefield 6 Open Beta ahead of Week 2, adding playlist changes, new modes, and the long-requested Custom Search feature.
The second weekend of the Battlefield 6 Open Beta is almost here, and EA isn’t wasting any time making changes based on player feedback from Week 1. A brand-new update, roughly 3 GB on Steam, went live earlier today across all platforms, setting the stage for a weekend of new modes, playlists, and features.
If you jumped into the first beta weekend, you’ll remember it was a packed couple of days with massive player numbers and plenty of heated battles. Now, EA is mixing things up with fresh ways to play, more control over matchmaking, and a rotating set of playlists designed to keep matches feeling fresh.
Earlier today, the developer released a blog article giving us a preview of some of the changes fans can expect to see during week 2 of the open beta. In this article, we’ll talk about all of these changes in detail.
New Rotating Playlists
One of the biggest changes for Week 2 is the introduction of rotating playlists. Instead of being locked into one mode at a time, certain playlists will now shuffle between multiple game modes. For example, All-Out Warfare will cycle between Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush. Smaller-scale action gets the same treatment, with Close Quarters offering a mix of Domination, King of the Hill, and Squad Deathmatch.
This daily rotation is only for the beta period, so don’t expect it to stick around for launch. EA says the goal is to see which combinations players enjoy most before the full release on October 10.
Custom Search
Week 2 of Open Beta also brings a much-requested matchmaking tool: Custom Search. This lets you choose your favorite map and mode combo, for example, Conquest on Siege of Cairo, and the game will try to match you into that setup if possible.
While it’s not a full server browser, it’s still a step toward giving players more control over how they play. For now, it’s only available for Open Weapon mode playlists during the beta.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the complete set of patch notes for today’s update. EA has only outlined the key changes for Week 2 so far, and the full breakdown of fixes, tweaks, and adjustments is expected to arrive tomorrow once the beta officially goes live.
The Battlefield 6 Open Beta Week 2 kicks off on Thursday, August 14, at 08:00 UTC and runs until Monday, August 18, at 08:00 UTC. With the new playlists, Custom Search, and fresh modes on the way, it’s looking like a busy weekend for anyone planning to jump back in.
