Epic Games has disabled Fortnite’s Peacemaker dance emote, citing concerns over its partner’s “creative intentions,” just days after a major Earth-X reveal in Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6.

Fortnite’s latest superhero crossover just hit an unexpected snag. Earlier this month, Epic added DC’s Peacemaker to the game, complete with a bundle of themed cosmetics, the Peacemaker outfit, an Eagly back bling, a shield pickaxe, a themed wrap, and two emotes: Peace Approved and Peaceful Hips, the latter being a cheeky nod to the show’s viral opening dance routine.

But now, right after Episode 6 of Peacemaker Season 2 aired, things have taken a turn. The episode, titled “Ignorance Is Chris,” revealed that the alternate world Peacemaker has been visiting is actually Earth-X, a universe where Nazis won the war.

It was a chilling reveal that tied directly into Peacemaker’s struggles with his past and identity, and even included a Lex Luthor cameo from Nicholas Hoult. And in the wake of that storyline, Epic Games has stepped in.

Epic Games Disables Peacemaker “Peaceful Hips” Emote in Fortnite

Earlier today, the company announced that it has disabled the “Peaceful Hips” emote in Fortnite. In a post on the official FortniteStatus account on X, the company said that it’s investigating its partner’s (HBO) “creative intentions” with the emote, which suddenly carries much heavier context after the Nazi Earth reveal.

“We’re disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we inquire into our partner’s creative intentions in this collab emote. Assuming it’s not coming back, we’ll issue refunds in the next few days. Sorry folks.”

The wording leaves the door open for the emote to return, but the line about “assuming it’s not coming back” strongly suggests Epic may remove it permanently.

Why the Peacemaker Emote was Disabled in Fortnite

While the Earth-X reveal in Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 might have added uncomfortable context, that’s likely not the main reason for the removal. What’s gaining traction online is the idea that the Peaceful Hips emote, which mimics the show’s intro dance, briefly resembles a swastika when the character moves their arms in a certain pattern.

It’s not an exact shape, but the outline is close enough that fans started pointing it out. This could be what Epic is referring to when it says it’s reviewing its partner’s “creative intentions.” For a company as image-conscious as Epic, even an accidental resemblance like that could be more than enough to warrant pulling the emote entirely while they investigate further.

For now, anyone who purchased the emote can expect a refund if it doesn’t return, with Epic confirming the process will begin in the coming days. The rest of the Peacemaker bundle remains in the shop rotation. Peacemaker’s latest episode was already one of the most talked-about of the season, and now Fortnite players are caught in the middle of the conversation too.
