Destiny 2 players could hear more about Bungie‘s unvaulting plans this week, including its first steps toward restoring removed campaigns and raids.

Last month, Bungie promised to bring vaulted Destiny 2 campaigns, destinations, and raids back for all players. More than a month later, the studio still hasn’t named the first activity it plans to restore.

Its announcement did warn that the older content needs changes to lighting, encounters, combatants, and underlying systems before it can work in today’s game.

The restoration promise followed Bungie’s decision to end Destiny 2’s planned live-service releases with June’s Monuments of Triumph update. September’s reversal gave the game a future beyond that farewell, although players have seen no timetable for the first returning campaign.

Now the week Bungie singled out is here.

Destiny 2 Players Could Hear More About Unvaulting This Week

Last week, Bungie Head of Product Josh Deane replied to a post joking about his earlier update on X. He wrote, “Looking at next week to queue up the update.”

Update, October 26, 9:29 AM PT: Bungie’s principal communications manager, Dylan Gafner, has shared another update, revealing that the studio is now targeting Thursday, October 29, for a new blog post discussing Bungie and Destiny 2’s unvaulting plans.

“Aiming for a blog post this week to chat further about Bungie & D2 unvaulting, Gafner said. “Spending some time with Josh to talk process. Current target is Thursday. See you then!”

Original story: With that bit of information, Bungie is expected to share more details about its Destiny 2 unvaulting plans this week, starting October 26, 2026, as TheGamePost reported last week.

Bungie hasn’t announced a specific date or time, and Deane’s wording isn’t a guarantee. If we had to guess the announcement day, it could be later today, tomorrow, or on Thursday.

Anyone expecting a surprise content drop should also keep expectations in check. The planned communication concerns Bungie’s restoration work, rather than a confirmed playable update.

Deane previously said that he wanted to explain the team’s first steps before October ended. His preferred format is closer to a progress bar than a conventional roadmap.

The idea is to show development milestones and obstacles as they happen, then attach dates when the team can support them. It could give players a useful look at how much work remains instead of another timeline Bungie might have to rewrite.

In its September studio statement, Bungie explained that changes made since Beyond Light mean old experiences can’t simply be switched back on. The company has pledged to make restored content available to all Destiny 2 players.

What it hasn’t said is whether The Red War, Forsaken’s campaign, or any particular raid will come first.

The studio has also described this restoration effort as an opening step toward future Destiny stories and games. No Destiny 3 announcement came with that promise, and there’s still no release window for unvaulted content.

Showing one working campaign section or a clear technical milestone this week would carry more weight than another vague pledge. Players have already heard those.
