New reports say Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic will not show up at The Game Awards 2025 or release in 2026, despite “content complete” claims.

Naughty Dog’s new sci-fi project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has been one of PlayStation’s most talked-about upcoming exclusives since its reveal at The Game Awards 2024. The debut trailer showed bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, retro tech, a Porsche spaceship, and Pet Shop Boys’ “It’s a Sin” setting the tone for a stylish, faith-driven space story.

Since then, official updates have been very light. Outside of a few interviews and casting confirmations, Sony and Naughty Dog have kept the project close to the chest, which has only made fans more hungry for news. With Ghost of Yotei and Wolverine already on the way, a lot of PlayStation players had quietly penciled in Intergalactic as a possible late 2026 showpiece.

That silence is why a new claim from Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty spread so quickly. On Dan Allen’s podcast, Moriarty said he believes Intergalactic is basically “content complete“, that Sony is hiring for localization, and that he “won’t be surprised if it was out this time next year“, after a showing at The Game Awards 2025.

Now two other well-known reporters have stepped in and pushed back. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has once again poured cold water on any 2026 hopes, and Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb has told fans not to expect the game at The Game Awards at all.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet release date update

Schreier replied to a Reddit thread about Moriarty’s “content complete” comments and kept it short but very clear. In his words, he “can assure you that Intergalactic is not coming out in 2026.” This lines up with his earlier ResetEra posts, all saying 2027 is the earliest realistic window.

On top of that, insider Jeff Grubb has chimed in on X, responding to a post about Moriarty’s claims by saying that Intergalactic will not be shown at The Game Awards 2025. So, the bottom line is that fans should not expect a big second trailer or gameplay reveal at TGA 2025 that many were hoping to see.

Even with the claims like these from credible insiders like Schrier and Grubb, it is still smart to treat all of this with a grain of salt. Plans change, and internal targets slip. Until PlayStation puts a release window and a trailer date on a stage, nothing is final.
