Star Wars Battlefront 3 is reportedly in development at Electronic Arts, with DICE and Respawn Entertainment working together on the long-awaited sequel, according to a new report.
It has been nearly a decade since Star Wars Battlefront 2 launched in 2017, and fans have been asking for another entry ever since. Now, a new report suggests that the series could finally be making a comeback, with two of EA’s biggest studios reportedly joining forces to bring it to life.
According to a new report from Variety, published today, EA is making major changes to its development studios, including layoffs affecting approximately 3% of its workforce and the closure of BioWare.

As part of the restructuring, the company has outlined plans for a new collaboration between DICE and Respawn Entertainment.
In an internal memo sent to employees, EA executives Cam Weber and David Tinson discussed the company’s future plans for its shooter franchises, including Battlefield. The memo also revealed that DICE and Respawn would be working together on a separate, unannounced project.
The executives stated: “we’ll be bringing together our Respawn and DICE studios to collaborate on a future project.”
While EA did not reveal the name of this project in the memo, Variety reports that multiple sources have confirmed it is Star Wars Battlefront 3, being developed for Lucasfilm.

DICE and Respawn Reportedly Teaming Up for Star Wars Battlefront 3
The latest report comes just days after rumors about a new Battlefront game began circulating online.
As The Game Post previously reported, Electronic Gaming Monthly’s revived Quartermann rumor column claimed that Lucasfilm was looking for a development partner for Star Wars Battlefront 3, with DICE and Bungie reportedly among the studios being considered.
However, another claim soon pointed toward a different partnership.
On October 19, Joe Brammer, CEO of Bulkhead, the studio behind Wardogs, claimed that he had heard DICE and Respawn were already working on Battlefront 3.
Brammer wrote: “DICE and from what I’ve heard Respawn are working on Battlefront 3. Not sure what that means for Battlefield.”

At the time, there was no official information supporting the claim. However, Variety’s latest reporting adds significant weight to the possibility that both studios are involved, especially now that EA’s internal memo has acknowledged a collaboration between DICE and Respawn.
DICE would be a familiar choice for the project, having developed 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront and its 2017 sequel. Respawn, meanwhile, has extensive experience with first-person shooters through Titanfall and Apex Legends, alongside its work on the Star Wars Jedi series.
A collaboration between the two could bring together DICE’s experience with large-scale multiplayer battles and Respawn’s background in fast-paced shooting mechanics. However, neither studio’s specific responsibilities on the reported project have been disclosed.

For now, there are still several unanswered questions. EA and Lucasfilm have not officially announced Star Wars Battlefront 3, and there is no confirmed release date, gameplay footage, or information about supported platforms.
