Sony has revealed that Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II has smashed the record for the most pre-sales in Brazil, according to IGN Brazil. This record was previously held by God of War which was released back in 2018 on the PlayStation 4. With this, the game is number one on the pre-sales retail PlayStation exclusives in the country’s history.
The Last of Us Part II Outperforms God of War in Brazil
Speaking of the sales numbers, a few days ago, CEO Jim Ryan tweeted that The Last of Us Part II has also exceeded the number of pre-orders of Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 in Europe.
The Last of Us Part II is exactly two weeks away at the time of writing, releasing on Friday, June 19, 2020, on the PlayStation 4. You can pre-order the game digitally from the PlayStation Store on PS4.
It’s really interesting seeing the game crashing the records despite getting leaked ahead of the official release. In an interview with Eurogamer, when asked about the leaks for The Last of Us Part II, game director Neil Druckmann replied, “They sucked. You’ve worked on something for so long, and then to have it come out in the way that it did was disappointing, to me and other members of the team. But pretty quickly we huddled together and wanted to discuss it.”
Review copies for the game are out! And we’ll be seeing the official reviews very soon. Are you excited about the title coming in just two weeks? What are your expectations from the story of this sequel? Let us know in the comments!
