Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows is gearing up for a February 2025 release, with media previews reportedly set for mid-January.
Ubisoft’s highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows is inching closer to its February 14, 2025, release date. Originally slated for November 15, 2024, the Feudal Japan-inspired entry in the Assassin’s Creed series was delayed to ensure more polish and refinement, according to an official statement from the developer.
“[Assassin’s Creed Shadows] is an ambitious addition to the franchise, a rich experience that can be lived through the eyes of two unique protagonists,” the developer said. “But we realize we need more time to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features.”
As part of the announcement, Ubisoft also confirmed that all current preorders would be refunded, with future preorders including the game’s first expansion at no extra cost. This Assassin’s Creed installment features two protagonists, Yasuke, and Naoe.
Now, there’s a promising update for fans eager to know if the new release date will hold.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Media Previews
Reliable industry insider Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming has revealed that media and content creator previews for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are planned for mid-January 2025. This suggests that development is progressing as intended, and Ubisoft is on track to meet its Valentine’s Day launch target, Friday, February 14, 2025.
Henderson shared the update on X (Twitter), stating, “AC Shadows previews for media/creators are Mid-Jan now, so it seems like they are on track for their Feb 14th release.”
While this is a reassuring sign for fans, it’s important to remember that this information hasn’t been officially confirmed by Ubisoft. With Henderson’s strong track record of industry leaks, the claim carries some weight. However, as with all unofficial updates, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt.
Currently, pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are unavailable, and Ubisoft has yet to announce when they will re-open. However, one exciting detail confirmed by the developer is that the game will be available on Steam from day one.
For players who prefer Steam as their primary PC platform, this is great news, it means you can keep your game library organized in one place without switching between stores.
