Following the datamined leaks earlier this month, Sony-owned Bungie has now officially announced the latest Destiny crossover that is with Sony’s Ghostbusters franchise.
Bungie recently announced a collaboration between Destiny 2 and Ghostbusters, which will introduce new Ghostbusters-themed cosmetics to the game. However, unlike other major collaborations like The Witcher or Mass Effect, the Ghostbusters collaboration will not include any armor sets.

Destiny 2 x Ghostbusters Crossover Release Date and Cosmetics
Destiny’s official social media channels announced that the collaboration between Destiny 2 and Ghostbusters will be released at 10 AM Pacific on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the weekly reset.
As for the new cosmetics, the collab will only add three accessory items to the game; a Ghostbusters-themed Ship, Sparrow, and Ghost Shell. Here’s a preview of these cosmetics:
The recent news of a crossover between Destiny 2 and Ghostbusters came as a surprise to many players. On the announcement thread on Destiny’s official subreddit, Reddit user PickleFriedCheese replied; “I don’t know how I feel about this. It’s cool stuff, and I guess we have non-branded content in the game that already looks similar to this but…this is starting to edge the line of ridiculous collabs for me like Fortnite does. I’m worried this starting to be the tipping point.”
The collaboration seems to be solely for the purpose of promoting the upcoming Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire movie, which is set to release on March 22, 2024 – just three days after the crossover.
Destiny 2 has collaborated with other major video game franchises in the past. However, for the first time, the game will now feature items based on a movie franchise. This collaboration could open doors for other major collaborations with blockbuster movie franchises in the future.
In other news, it has been reported that Destiny 2’s upcoming 2-month update, named Into The Light, will include some of the highly anticipated weapons from Season of the Forge (Black Armory). Additionally, there are rumors that this free update will bring back The Whisper mission.
