Whether you’re a returning veteran or someone new to the series, this expansion looks like a great point to jump in. In this guide, we’ll talk about everything you need to know about The Edge of Fate expansion in Destiny 2.
Note
We’ll update this article with official details on The Edge of Fate and the Year of Prophecy as soon as they’re announced tomorrow.
Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate Release Date and Time
The Edge of Fate is officially launching on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Bungie is sticking to its usual release day, and the expansion will go live worldwide at the same time. Here’s what that looks like depending on where you are:
- 9 AM PT (Pacific Time)
- 12 PM ET (Eastern Time)
- 5 PM BST (British Summer Time)
- 6 PM CEST (Central European Summer Time)
- 1 AM JST (Japan Standard Time) – July 16
- 2 AM AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) – July 16
Keep in mind, servers usually go down for a few hours beforehand for maintenance. So make sure your game’s updated and ready to go before reset hits.
Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate Platforms
The Edge of Fate will be available on all the same platforms that currently support Destiny 2. That includes both old and new-gen consoles, as well as multiple PC storefronts:
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X and S
- Xbox One
- Steam
- Microsoft Store
- Epic Games Store
No major platform changes are expected, so wherever you’re already playing Destiny 2, you’ll be able to continue there with The Edge of Fate.
The Edge of Fate Price and Bundles
Based on recent leaks, it looks like The Edge of Fate will be available in three different editions: a Standard Edition, an Ultimate Edition, and a Collector’s Edition. While Bungie hasn’t officially confirmed pricing for all of them yet, leaks and past expansion pricing give us a good idea of what to expect.
The Standard Edition will likely cost around $50 USD, which is consistent with the price of previous Destiny expansions. The Ultimate Edition is expected to be around $100 USD and will probably include access to the full “Year of Prophecy” content, including seasonal updates or major free drops that follow Edge of Fate’s launch.
The Collector’s Edition is a bit different and will come in two separate versions. One version will include the game code and is expected to cost $275 USD, while the version without the game code will be priced at $175 USD.
Both versions are said to include high-quality collectibles like a 1/8 scale statue featuring the Hunter, Warlock, and Titan in action poses, a lore envelope with classified documents, a metal badge engraved with Guardian icons, the Edge of Fate digital soundtrack, and an exclusive emblem.
The Edge of Fate Pre-Order Bonuses
If you’re looking to pre-order The Edge of Fate, a few leaked items might sweeten the deal. According to datamined information, players who pre-order the expansion may receive the following exclusive in-game rewards:
- New Land Beyond – Exotic Sniper Rifle
- Anisotropic Shell – Ghost Shell
- External Sights – Emblem
These bonuses haven’t been officially announced by Bungie yet, but they follow the usual pre-order pattern Destiny 2 players have seen in the past. We will update this section once we have the official details.
The Edge of Fate Raid Release Date
Like most Destiny expansions, The Edge of Fate’s raid won’t release on day one. Based on recent leaks and Bungie’s own scheduling, there are two likely windows for the raid’s launch. One possibility is Friday, July 18, which is three days after the expansion drops.
Another likely option is Friday, August 1, and there’s a good reason for that. Bungie has already confirmed that it won’t be scheduling the Day 1 Raid Race during GCX, a major community convention that runs from July 25 to July 26. With that in mind, the raid is likely landing either shortly after launch or the week following GCX to avoid any overlap.
The Edge of Fate Leaks
Edge of Fate has already had a fair share of leaks, some from datamined files and others from Bungie Store listings that went live early. From what we know so far, the expansion introduces a new location called Kepler, a mysterious planetoid located on the edge of the Sol system.
From the Collector’s Edition:
“An invitation to a planetoid on the edge of Sol reveals a singularity, a new name bestowed by the Nine, and new questions from Earth’s past. Kepler holds many mysteries, one of which is a manila envelope, its contents collected from across the sands of Kepler.“
Bungie has already confirmed that this next year of Destiny 2 will also bring a completely redesigned user interface called The Portal, which will serve as a new hub for all in-game activities. Content will now be grouped into sections like Solo Ops, Fireteam Ops, Flashpoint Ops, Pinnacle Ops, Crucible, and Events.
The way endgame content works is also getting updated. Each year will now include one new raid and one new dungeon, with raids launching with the first expansion and dungeons with the second. The Dungeon Key system is going away, and a new Challenge Customization system will let players choose their preferred difficulty and rewards.
