A new leak might have revealed a secret Exotic heavy weapon coming to Destiny 2’s Edge of Fate expansion.
Destiny 2’s next big expansion, Edge of Fate, is set to launch on July 15, and it’s bringing plenty of new content for players to look forward to. Bungie has already shared details about several exotic weapons and armor pieces arriving with the expansion, giving fans a solid idea of what to expect from day one.
So far, three new exotic weapons have been revealed: Graviton Spike, Third Iteration, and New Land Beyond (already available as part of the pre-order bonus). Along with these, each class is getting a unique piece of exotic armor: Melas Panoplia for Titans, Eunoia for Warlocks, and Moirai for Hunters.
But now, there’s reason to believe that Bungie might have one more exotic weapon up its sleeve. Thanks to a newly surfaced leak, it seems there might be a secret exotic heavy weapon that hasn’t been announced yet.
Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate Exotic Strand Heavy Weapon Leak
The leak in question was first spotted by Clowitty in the BungieLeaks Discord server. Adam Kallibjian, a composer and sound designer who has worked on Destiny 2, shared some behind-the-scenes videos of his work.
In one of these videos, specifically the Revenant music showcase, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the gameplay footage seems to be from a development of the Edge of Fate, as it featured the new UI that isn’t out yet.
In the gameplay footage, we can clearly see that the weapon icon in the heavy slot isn’t used by any weapon currently in Destiny 2. On top of that, we also got confirmation that it’s a Strand weapon, thanks to the Strand icon right next to it.
Based on the design, fans are speculating that this could be a brand new Strand exotic rocket launcher or a trace rifle. Since Bungie hasn’t revealed any heavy Strand exotics for Edge of Fate, this might be part of a secret quest, or it could be the new raid exotic.
Another thing that caught players’ attention in the same footage is a new trait called “Frame of Reference.” This seems to be one of the new Origin Traits coming to weapons in the expansion, though Bungie hasn’t given any official details just yet.
As always with leaks, it’s important to take everything with a grain of salt. Development builds can feature icons and elements that never actually make it to the final game, and sometimes things get changed or cut before launch.
