A former Bungie senior design lead has joined Horizon developer Guerrilla Games as a Design Director
Chris Proctor, a longtime Bungie designer known for shaping some of Destiny 2’s most iconic weapons, has officially joined Guerrilla Games as a Design Director. This news comes straight from Proctor himself, who updated his LinkedIn profile today, March 3, 2025, to reflect his new role. Proctor announced his departure from Bungie last month.
However, he didn’t reveal which project he’ll be working on. Proctor’s career at Bungie spanned over five years, during which he played a key role in crafting the game’s weapon sandbox. If you’ve used Dead Man’s Tale, Cloudstrike, Forerunner, or Osteo Striga, you’ve seen his work in action.
He started at Bungie as a Staff Designer in 2019 before becoming Sandbox Craft Lead in 2024. Before that, he worked at Halo Studios, contributing to Halo Infinite and Halo 5: Guardians.
Now, he’s moving over to Guerrilla Games, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Horizon series. Right now, the team is working on multiple projects, including a Horizon multiplayer game that’s been in development for a while.
Job listings have hinted at a large-scale online experience, mentioning multi-service systems supporting over a million users. The job listing reads: “building and operating multi-service, 1M+ user globally distributed systems across multiple public cloud providers.”
There’s also been hiring for a Release QA Intern, suggesting preparations for a launch sometime in the future. Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that the next single-player Horizon game, Horizon 3 is still a long way off.
While Proctor’s role as Design Director is confirmed, there’s no word yet on whether he’ll be involved with Horizon Online, Horizon 3, or another project altogether.
