Earlier this month, Microsoft officially announced the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handheld consoles during the Xbox Games Showcase. Built in partnership with ASUS, these handhelds were pitched as a new way to play Xbox and PC games on the go, giving fans a new take on portable gaming.
According to Xbox, both the Ally and the more powerful Ally X are planned for release during the Holiday 2025 season, and while the announcement was pretty exciting, there were still plenty of questions about how much these handhelds would cost and exactly when we could get our hands on them.
Well, it looks like we might not have to wait much longer to find out. Thanks to a new leak from a well-known insider, eXtas1s, some early details on the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X have started to surface, including the expected pre-order date, pricing, and a more specific launch window.

This new information comes from Spanish Xbox insider eXtas1s, who claims to have spoken directly with European retailers that recently met with Microsoft to discuss launch plans for the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X.
According to the leaked details, these sources were given early information about pre-orders, launch timing, and pricing as part of Microsoft’s rollout strategy for the new handhelds.
According to the leak, fans eager to reserve their ROG Xbox Ally or Ally X won’t have to wait too long, as pre-orders for both handhelds are set to open in August 2025. If you’re hoping to actually get your hands on one, the official launch is expected to follow in October, with sources suggesting it’ll likely land in the second half of the month.
As for how much these new handhelds will cost, the leaked details point to a €599 price tag for the standard ROG Xbox Ally and €899 for the higher-end Ally X in Europe. Over in the U.S., pricing is expected to be slightly lower, coming in at around $499 for the regular model and $799 for the Ally X.
In the video, eXtas1s said , “The pre-order, that is, the reservations for these Xbox Ally devices—both of them—will open in August [2025]. I was told, literally: it goes on sale in mid-October. Maybe closer to the end than the beginning, but October.”

According to the official reveal and confirmed by the leak, the standard ROG Xbox Ally comes with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A chip, 16GB LPDDR5X-6400 RAM, 512 GB SSD, a 7-inch FHD 120 Hz display, Wi-Fi 6E, and a 60 Wh battery.
The Ally X model bumps things up with a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, 24 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, impulse triggers, and an 80 Wh battery for longer play sessions.
Both devices will run on a customized version of Windows 11, offering a console-like Xbox experience and full access to Xbox PC games, cloud streaming, and third-party launchers like Steam and Epic Games. However, native Xbox console titles will only be playable via Remote Play if you own an Xbox at home.
