Sony Files PlayStation 5 Trademark Application In Europe

A new trademark application has been filed by Sony for PlayStation 5 which is their upcoming next-gen console releasing Holidays 2020.

Recently, we’ve been hearing many rumors about a reveal event coming for PlayStation 5 reveal in early to mid-February. Many suggest that the event will be held behind closed doors meaning it won’t be available for the public. Speaking of the reveal event, yesterday, Sony filed a PS5 trademark application in Europe at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IGE IPI).

The application has been filed under classification number 9, 28, and 41.

9:

Interactive computer software; interactive entertainment software; interactive multimedia game software; interactive computer software for information exchange; downloadable interactive entertainment software for playing video games; Computer game software; Game development software; Software for virtual reality games; Augmented reality game software;

28:

Games apparatus, video game apparatus, computer game apparatus; portable video game consoles; interactive game chairs for video games.

41:

Interactive entertainment; Entertainment services; interactive entertainment services; Online entertainment services; online interactive entertainment; Video game entertainment services; Entertainment services, namely, providing online video games, not downloadable, playing online video games, playing online games.

PlayStation 4 was officially released on November 15, 2013, in the United States and Canada. PlayStation 5 release date is expected in the holidays 2020.
