Destiny 2 appears to be bringing back another beloved shader from Destiny 1 following the return of Superblack. This is according to the new datamined information.
When Bungie released the Into the Light update in April 2024, it added the highly-requested Superblack shader as a reward for a limited time. Originally introduced in Destiny 1, Superblack became an instant fan-favorite for its sleek, completely black aesthetic.
And with this year’s Festival of the Lost event, Bungie brought back the Supoerblack shader for those who missed it during the Into The Light event.
Now, with the launch of Episode Revenant Act 2, dataminers have found evidence that another classic shader from Destiny 1 could be making a comeback, which is the complete opposite of Superblack.

Destiny 2 Bringing Back Fan-Favorite Destiny 1 Shader, Datamine Suggests
According to the datamined details, Bungie seems to be bringing back the beloved Chatterwhite shader in Destiny 2. First introduced as a reward in Destiny 1’s Vault of Glass raid, Chatterwhite was known for its striking all-white appearance.
Although a similar shader, Bitterpearl, was added to Destiny 2 with the reprise of Vault of Glass, players have been vocal about wanting Chatterwhite to make its official return.
According to the Bungie API, the Chatterwhite shader seems to be tied to a new upcoming event dubbed “Firecracker” in the game’s files. This event features a set of quests involving characters like The Drifter and Eris Morn. However, as with all datamined content, there’s no official confirmation yet, so take this with a grain of salt.
