Destiny 2 has finally received its mid-season content drop with Bungie‘s 30th Anniversary pack release today. Players are diving into the brand-new dungeon, Grasp of Avarice to unlock the returning exotic rocket launcher Gjallarhorn. Speaking of, in this guide, you’ll find out how to unlock the secret exotic catalyst for Gjallarhorn in Destiny 2.
To unlock Gjallarhorn, you need to purchase the Bungie 30th Anniversary pack on your desired platform. With the pack, you won’t be able to access the new dungeon and Gjallarhorn and its catalyst.
How to Unlock Gjallarhorn Exotic Catalyst in Destiny 2
After you’ve completed the main questline and unlocked Gjallarhorn, you’ll need to head back into the Grasp of Avarice dungeon where you’ll need to defeat Reaver Vandal and open three chests that will eventually grant you with the exotic catalyst.
Reaver Vandal and Chest Location #1
After you drop down from the loot cave, make your way towards the first horde of enemies, where you cross a crystal bridge. From there, look to your top right and you’ll see a yellow bar Reaver Vandal.
Damage the Vandal until you get the Burden by Riches debuff. After that, head back to the start of the bridge, climb on top of the platform, and open the chest. This chest will not drop you any loot but is a part of the quest.
Reaver Vandal and Chest Location #2
The second Reaver Vandal spawns in after you climb the red/orange stairs that have a boulder run down towards you, after the first time you use the Scorch Cannon.
Make your way into the room ahead and you’ll find the Reaver Vandal there, SImple repeat the same process, damage until you get the Bruden by Riches debuff, and climb up the vent where you’d normally go.
Exit the vent and make a sharp right, where you’ll find a platform and the second chest. Open it and proceed.
Reaver Vandal and Chest Location #3
For this last chest, you need to complete the Fallen Shield encounter. After the encounter is completed, instead of going into the balloon, rotate the final cannon to the right, where the first Servitor spawns. (and has a waterfall)
Go through it, defeat the Reaver Vandal, and after you get the Burden of Riches debuff, go back to the central cannon, and you’ll find the final chest on top of the dome. This chest will drop the exotic catalyst for the Gajjalarhorn exotic rocket launcher.
Gjallarhorn Exotic Catalyst Objective and Perk
After you’ve acquired the catalyst, you’ll need to complete the objective to fully unlock and masterwork the weapon. For that, you’ll need to defeat 400 enemies with the weapon. You can find the exotic catalyst perk for Gjallarhorn below:
- More Wolves: Increases magazine size. Final blows with Wolfpack Rounds spawn a faster, more powerful missile at the target’s location.
