Destiny 2 has a vast list of items and currencies for players to collect and upgrade their characters, and level up their weapons and armor in the game. One such currency is called Legendary Shard, which is used for purchasing most of the legendary and exotic items in the game. With the release of recent updates, Bungie has significantly increased the cost of Legendary Shards.
However, recently, players have discovered a new method that allows them to farm infinite Legendary Shards. According to A2TC on YouTube, this farm requires players to purchase and dismantle a specific Guardian Games armor from last year. Here’s how to do it.
Update: Bungie has removed the Guardian Games 2022 Class Item from Collections.
For this, players need to open their Collections tab, then Armor, and then Events. Under the Events tab, you need to find the Medal class item from last year’s Guardian Games event. These are called the Mark of Medal (Titan), Medal Bond (Warlock), and Medal Mantle (Hunter).
After you have found the class item, purchase nine of these and then dismantle them from your inventory. These class items cost 777 Glimmer, but when dismantling them, they give out 4 Legendary Shards and 250 Glimmer.
To solve the Glimmer problem, head over to Master Rahool and simply buy 10,000 Glimmer for 10 Legendary Shards (the first option). This means every nine class items dismantled, you are getting a total of 36 Legendary Shards and 2,250 Glimmer. So, you can easily purchase a pack of Glimmer from Rahool while still profiting from this farm.
To make the most out of this exploit, players can set up a macro that automates this whole process while being AFK. While we haven’t seen any case of players getting banned for using macros for these kinds of things, it’s worth noting that there’s always risk involved when dealing with third-party software in games.
Recently, Bungie released a statement over the use of third-party devices like XIM and Cronus in Destiny 2 and said that it “embraces the use of external accessibility aids that enable an experience the game designers intended.” This includes “programmable controllers, keyboard and mouse adapters, advanced macros, or automation via artificial intelligence.”
