Sony PlayStation has made a big push into live service games over the last few years, but the road hasn’t been easy. With major projects like Concord failing to meet expectations and leading to the studio’s closure, and news of more cancellations — including a God of War live service project from Bluepoint Games — it’s been a challenging journey.

Today, let’s take a look at all the live service games under Sony’s banner, whether they’ve been released, canceled, or are still in the works.

Here’s the complete list of Sony’s live service games, organized by their current status: released, in development, and canceled.

Helldivers 2: Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, Helldivers 2 offers a cooperative multiplayer experience where players team up to fight aliens and robots. Released in early 2024, it’s one of the few live service titles from Sony that has avoided major hurdles so far.

MLB The Show: San Diego Studio’s MLB The Show continues to be a staple in Sony’s lineup. Considered a live service game due to its frequent updates and seasonal content, it has been a consistent performer for PlayStation.

Gran Turismo 7: Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7 includes regular content updates and online features, making it another entry in Sony’s live service portfolio. Its reputation for high-quality racing keeps it on solid ground.

Destiny 2: Bungie’s Destiny 2 is still a very successful live service game. Originally released in 2017, the game has seen yearly content updates in the form of expansions, with seasonal releases every three to four months.

Concord: Developed by Firewalk Studios, Concord launched but didn’t find its footing. After its failure, the game and Firewalk were shut down entirely, marking one of Sony’s most significant live service missteps.

All PlayStation Live Service Games In-Development

Marathon: Bungie’s Marathon has been a mystery ever since its announcement in 2023. Scheduled for a 2025 release, it promises to bring the Bungie spin in the extraction shooter genre, with unique heroes and abilities.

Fairgame$: Haven Studio’s Fairgame$ is also aiming for a 2025 launch. Details are still light, but it’s clear Sony is banking on this title for its live service success.

Horizon MMO: Guerrilla Games is reportedly working on a Horizon MMO. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, fans are eager to see how the beloved series will transition to this format.

Gummy Bears: Formerly under Bungie’s wing, Gummy Bears was spun off to a new studio in August 2024. The Game Post reported that it’s a MOBA at heart that takes inspiration from Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros.

All PlayStation Live Service Games Canceled

God of War Live Service Game: Bluepoint Games was working on a God of War live service project since 2022. It was canceled in January 2025, ending speculation about how Kratos’ saga could evolve in a multiplayer setting.

Bend Studio’s Sci-Fi Live Service Game: Bend Studio had been developing an unannounced sci-fi live service title since 2020. Screenshots leaked in late 2024, but the project was officially canceled in January 2025.

Twisted Metal Live Service Game: Originally with Lucid Games and later moved to Firesprite, the Twisted Metal live service project was canceled in February 2024.

PlayStation London Studios: London Studio’s fantasy AAA live service title began development in 2022. It was canceled in February 2024, and the studio was shut down shortly after.

The Last of Us Multiplayer Game: Naughty Dog’s ambitious multiplayer project, in development since 2020, was officially canceled in December 2023.

Spider-Man The Great Web: Insomniac reportedly worked on a Spider-Man live service title beginning in 2019. It was quietly shelved sometime in 2022.

Deviation Games’ Live Service Title: Deviation Games’ project, which began in 2021, was canceled in May 2023. The studio shut down in early 2024.

Destiny Payback: Bungie was rumored to be working on Destiny Payback, a third-person looter shooter with an emphasis on exploration. Development started in 2022, but the project was canceled in August 2024.

Fantasy Live Service Game from London Studio: London Studio’s fantasy live service title began development in 2022. It was canceled in February 2024, and the studio was shut down shortly after.
