Bungie has shared a new timeline for Destiny 2 unvaulting news.
Bungie promised in September to bring vaulted Destiny 2 campaigns, destinations, and raids back for every player. The announcement reversed years of removing content from the game, although the studio warned that older activities need work on lighting, combatants, encounters, and underlying systems before they can return.
Players have been waiting for a clearer idea of what that restoration looks like. In a late-September post on X, Bungie Head of Product Josh Deane said the team was aiming to explain its first steps before the end of October.

He also proposed tracking development through a progress bar rather than dropping a traditional roadmap full of dates before the team could set realistic expectations.
Deane has now offered a fresh timing clue.
Bungie Eyes Next Week for More Destiny 2 Unvaulting Details
Earlier today, Deane responded to a post poking fun at his earlier unvaulting statement. He wrote:
“Cracked me up a bit on this one [crying laughing emoji]. Looking at next week to queue up the update.”
His comment points to the week beginning October 26, right before the end-of-October target he originally set. It’s the clearest indication yet that Bungie is preparing to talk about its unvaulting work again, and it comes directly from the executive overseeing the product side of the studio.
As for the exact day, that’s still up in the air. But, if we had to guess, and considering the usual “Bungie news” day, it’s might be on Tuesday or Thursday. But, of course, that’s just our prediction.

Deane’s September post covered the how, what, and when of unvaulting, along with potential future Destiny 2 updates and what comes after the current game. He said he wanted to show development milestones, including obstacles, so players could understand the work before Bungie committed to release dates.
In its September studio announcement, Bungie also acknowledged that removing older Destiny 2 experiences had damaged player trust. Restoring those experiences is supposed to be the first part of its wider plans for Destiny, including new stories and games. A progress bar would give players a way to judge how that promise is moving forward rather than taking another announcement at face value.
For now, Bungie hasn’t named the first campaign, destination, or raid coming back. It also hasn’t given a release date for restored content. The next communication could explain the process, but Bungie hasn’t tied it to the release of any playable content.

What would you want Bungie to show first in its unvaulting update: the content it’s restoring or how far along the work is? Let us know in the comments.
