Bungie has confirmed that all of the currently unobtainable exotic catalysts in Destiny 2 will be available in the activities pool with the release of The Witch Queen.
This comes from the latest episode of DCP Live podcast, during which, Design Lead Chris Proctor, talks about the weapons and some of the changes coming to Destiny 2 with Bungie’s 30th Anniversary and in The Witch Queen. When asked about what the team is planning on currently unobtainable exotic catalysts in the game, Proctor replied:
“So you know like general purpose exotics their catalysts are just in the activities pool. The intent for Witch Queen is that all the currently inaccessible catalysts go there.”
“It would actually be awesome to have a specific place to go to grind out catalysts, but for the moment at least, activities.”
There are a couple of unobtainable exotic catalysts in Destiny 2 right now, including Whisper of the Worm catalyst, which dropped from the Heroic Whisper mission. Others include The Fourth Horseman, Heir Apparent, Outbreak Perfected, etc.
This means that players will be able to unlock these catalysts by completing Nightfalls, Crucible matches, Lost Sectors, or other in-game activities. Yesterday, Bungie also released a massive list of weapons changes coming to Destiny 2 with the mid-season patch in December. You can check out the complete list here.
Destiny 2’s 30 Anniversary pack goes live on December 7, with The Witch Queen expansion launching on February 22, 2022.
