Bungie wins big cheers from the Destiny 2 players for open communication.

On August 15th, Destiny 2 Game Director Joe Blackburn posted a video on his X/Twitter account, directly communicating with the community — which is something Bungie hasn’t done in a while.

Blackburn responded to the State of the Game article and its criticism from the fans, setting expectations for the upcoming annual Showcase, and addressing some of the key questions from the community regarding the PvP side of Destiny 2, the Armor, and the general communication with the fans.

This sixteen-minute-long video was met with a warm reception from the community. This transparent approach has garnered praise from Destiny 2 fans who have longed for open communication and a stronger connection with the developers.

The video not only showcased a willingness to listen but also highlighted the studio’s genuine passion for creating an engaging and satisfying gaming experience.

In an effort to have more open communication with the fans, Blackburn also mentioned that he plans to stream himself playing Destiny 2 in Seasons 22 and 23, and teaming up with some of the community content creators.

Destiny 2 has been in the hot waters ever since the release of Lightfall — from the overall story campaign to the weekly Veil Containment dialogue, fans were not happy with how Bungie is delivering the narrative for the penultimate expansion.

Destiny 2 Showcase event is next week, on Tuesday, August 22nd, at 9 AM Pacific.
