Good news for players who are still waiting to unlock the Necrochasm raid exotic.
Crota’s End raid was released at the start of this month in Destiny 2, with reworked encounters, returning Age of Triumph armor that players have longed for, and the raid exotic, Necrochasm. This exotic is obtainable via an exotic quest upon completing the raid.
However, to complete this exotic quest, players need to collect a total of twenty Essence of the Oversoul fragments that only have one guaranteed drop per week, as clarified by Bungie.

The good news is that Bungie has since announced that it will be increasing the drop rates for these Oversoul fragments to help players unlock the returning Necrochasm exotic, as well as its exotic catalyst.
Oversoul Fragments Drop Rates Increased in Destiny 2 Crota’s End
According to the latest This Week in Destiny blog post, the developer has confirmed its plans to increase the drop rates for Essence of the Oversoul in the Crota’s End raid. Instead of getting only one guaranteed drop per week, your first full clear of the raid will drop two guaranteed Oversoul fragments.
“For starters, your first full clear of Crota’s End each week will now provide two guaranteed Essences of the Oversoul: the guaranteed weekly drop from defeating Crota and an additional guaranteed drop for beating each encounter in order from start to finish,” said Bungie in its weekly article.
“Then, every time you do a full clear, you’ll still earn that additional guaranteed Essence, so there’s now a way to farm them. We are also increasing the drop rate of random Essence of the Oversoul for repeated clears of each encounter, so you can earn even more per try.
“Finally, we are adding a chance to strike it lucky and earn all of the Essence necessary to complete both the Necrochasm quest and the catalyst when taking Crota down during a full run. Just like getting the Exotic to drop in previous raids, you can now get the whole deal if fortune smiles.”
This update goes live on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, alongside Update 7.2.0.4. Bungie has also announced that the Master difficulty of the Crota’s End raid will also launch the same day as this update.
