Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware, confirmed Sony’s interest in an acquisition but emphasized “no decision has been made” yet.

Yesterday, Reuters reported that Sony is in talks to acquire Kadokawa Corporation, the Japanese media giant and parent company of FromSoftware, the acclaimed studio behind Dark Souls and Elden Ring. According to the report, Sony has expressed strong interest in expanding its entertainment portfolio, which already spans movies, games, music, and anime.

Kadokawa is no small player in the industry. Originally established in 1945 as a publishing house, the company has grown into a multimedia powerhouse with a hand in anime, gaming, manga, and light novels.
