A viral GTA 6 leak that had fans excited has been confirmed fake after the creator revealed it was a hoax.

After years of anticipation, Grand Theft Auto 6 remains one of the most talked-about games in development. Rockstar Games officially released the first trailer for the game in late 2023. This year, Take-Two confirmed that GTA 6 is still on track for release in Fall 2025.

Fans have been clamoring for every scrap of information, especially after a massive leak in September 2022 revealed unfinished gameplay, Vice City as the setting, and glimpses of two protagonists. Since then, Rockstar has tightened its grip on leaks, making any new footage a big deal.

That’s why a recent clip supposedly showing new GTA 6 gameplay made such a stir online. The 30-second footage quickly went viral, sparking debates over whether it was part of the 2022 leak or something new entirely.

GTA 6 Gameplay “Leak” Confirmed Fake

The leaked clip was shared by an X (Twitter) user gtavislackleak today. The footage showcased an alleyway in a realistic-looking city, with a CCTV camera capturing the scene. Fans immediately began comparing the buildings to real-life locations, noting Rockstar’s usual attention to detail.

Some even dug into NVIDIA drivers and claimed the footage was from early to mid 2023, suggesting this was a newer build of the game rather than leftover material from the 2022 leaks.

At first glance, the footage seemed legitimate. The high level of detail, including the architecture and even ambient sounds like birds, added to its authenticity.

However, speculation began swirling when the video’s creator, who goes by “Long Long Time,” came forward on Discord to set the record straight. They revealed it was fan-made, complete with proof showcasing how they created the footage.

The lines between legitimate and hoax material have become increasingly blurred, especially as GTA 6 rumors continue to dominate social media. Adding to the uncertainty, recent reports have suggested that the game’s release date might even slip into 2026.
