A new PS5 Pro model has been leaked, with a launch expected later this month in Europe.
Sony may be rolling out a small hardware refresh for the PS5 Pro before September wraps up, and it could land in Europe first.
According to a new report from reliable leaker billbil-kun, a new PS5 Pro model tagged CFI-7121 is expected to arrive later this month, with a planned European release on September 30. One interesting detail from the report is that the storage is said to stay the same at 2TB, and the outside of the console won’t change.
If you’ve been following recent PlayStation hardware updates, you’ll remember the digital PS5 Slim’s surprise storage cut. That model dropped to 825GB from the earlier 1TB Slim, which left a few players annoyed. The good news with this PS5 Pro refresh is that there’s no sign of a similar downgrade.
From what’s been shared so far, the update sounds more like a behind-the-scenes tune-up, potentially better power efficiency, rather than a major rework.
New PS5 Pro CFI-7121 Model Release Date and Price Leaked
The report also points to no price change: this new PS5 Pro CFI-7121 model will remain at €799.99 in Europe. Design-wise, don’t expect anything new on your TV stand; it should look and feel like the current PS5 Pro.
As for the release in the Americas, availability isn’t confirmed yet, so we’ll need to wait and see if it rolls out at the same time or a bit later. In other news, there have been fresh developments in the lawsuit Sony filed against Chinese tech giant Tencent over its game Light of Motiram, which Sony claims copies the Horizon series. Tencent has pushed back strongly, arguing that Sony is attempting to “fence off a well-trodden corner of popular culture” by claiming ownership over long-standing genre conventions.
