Take-Two insists GTA 6 is still on track for Fall 2025, but CEO Strauss Zelnick admits there’s always a chance of delays.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily one of the most anticipated games of all time. Ever since Rockstar dropped the first trailer back in December 2023, fans have been starving for more information. But after months of radio silence, some started to wonder if the game might get pushed back.

That speculation only grew as Rockstar stayed quiet, leaving players on edge. Now, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has spoken up. In its latest earnings call, the company reassured fans that GTA 6 is still planned for Fall 2025.

But while they’re confident, they also admitted there’s always a chance things could change.

GTA 6 Still On Track For Fall 2025 Release

During the financial report for the quarter ending December 31, 2024, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that GTA 6 is still planned to launch in Fall 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. This means, as of now, Rockstar hasn’t pushed back the release window that was announced alongside the first trailer.

Take-Two remains optimistic, with the company expecting record-breaking profits in fiscal year 2026, largely thanks to GTA 6. But that doesn’t mean everything is set in stone.

“Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as we plan to launch Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on February 11th, Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4,” said Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive.

Speaking to IGN before the earnings report, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged the possibility that things could change. While the company believes Rockstar will hit the Fall 2025 window, he admitted there’s always a risk.

“Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things,” Zelnick said when asked about how confident he is about GTA 6’s Fall 2025 release. “So we feel really good about it.”

When asked how development was progressing, Zelnick didn’t give much away but emphasized Rockstar’s commitment to quality.

“Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally,” he said. “We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I’m fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we’re all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited.”

While everyone waits for GTA 6, its predecessor is still going strong. Take-Two revealed that GTA 5 has now sold an unbelievable 210 million copies worldwide.
