In response to the incident during the Destiny 2 Into The Light Livestream, Bungie has taken action against individuals who sent abusive messages towards one of the developers during the event.
This comes after Noah Lee, an Associate Activity Designer at Bungie, addressed the issue, stating that he “didn’t see any of the friend requests on stage,” and “there was so much going on” during the livestream.

Now, it looks like Bungie has also investigated the matter and issued bans to the individuals in Destiny 2 who sent friend requests on Steam with inappropriate and offensive usernames during the livestream.
Bungie Issues Bans to Destiny 2 Players Who Abused Dev During Livestream
Replying to a Reddit thread on r/DestinyTheGame, the official Destiny2Team account stated, “It was disappointing to see those notifications, but we know they were from a few awful individuals and not reflective of the community at large.”
“We were able to track down the accounts of several individuals who sent the harmful notifications and we have banned them from Destiny 2.”
The company’s response highlights its firm stance against any abusive behavior directed towards its staff. Such actions are not only detrimental to the targeted individuals but also tarnish the overall gaming experience for players.
Bungie has assured its players that it is taking extra measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The same reply stated, “We are taking extra measures to make sure this doesn’t happen again and look forward to sharing more information with you all in next week’s stream.”
Bungie will host two more livestreams for the upcoming Into the Light update, on March 26, and April 2 — revealing more details about the new free update rolling out on April 9, 2024, in Destiny 2.
