Destiny 2 The Final Shape Garners Most Positive Reviews on Steam

To put The Final Shape’s success into perspective, let’s compare it to previous expansions’s Steam rating. Lightfall, the expansion preceding The Final Shape, received only 29% positive reviews out of 11,749 total reviews.

This stark contrast highlights how The Final Shape has managed to address and improve upon the shortcomings of its predecessor. Similarly, The Witch Queen, which is considered one of the best Destiny 2 expansions, with 73% positive reviews from 3,459 reviews, still falls short of the acclaim The Final Shape has achieved.

Other expansions like Beyond Light, Shadowkeep, and Forsaken also pale in comparison. Beyond Light received 48% positive reviews from 5,818 reviews, Shadowkeep garnered 33% positive reviews from 5,151 reviews, and Forsaken achieved 51% positive reviews from 6,127 reviews.

The Final Shape might have surpassed a 90% positive rating and set a new all-time high for concurrent players on Steam if not for the server errors that plagued the game on its launch day, which is unfortunate. Analyzing the Steam review chart reveals that most of the negative reviews were posted during the first two days, coinciding with the server issues.

Salvation’s Edge, the new raid introduced in The Final Shape, has also garnered high praise from fans, with some calling it the best raid Bungie has ever created for Destiny 2. Its intricate mechanics and challenging gameplay made it the longest day-one raid in Destiny’s history, further solidifying its exceptional reputation among the player community.

In other news, Bungie has officially teased the next DLC for Destiny 2 in 2025, which is codenamed Frontiers. We don’t know much about it apart from the codename, but Bungie has confirmed that it will reveal more details as we get closer to the release.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
