New leaked images of the Nintendo Switch 2 “confirm” a redesigned console with exciting features like a USB-C port, U-shaped kickstand, six different case designs, and more.
Anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been building for months, with fans eagerly awaiting official news from Nintendo about the Switch successor. Recent leaks and rumors have only fueled the excitement, with many speculating about a potential reveal in January 2025.
The latest leaked images for Nintendo Switch 2 offer what seems to be the clearest look yet at the console’s redesign and new features, alongside six unique case designs.
Nintendo has remained tight-lipped about the Switch 2, leaving fans to piece together information from a series of leaks and insider reports. With these new images, however, it seems we might be inching closer to understanding what the next-generation console has in store.
Nintendo Switch 2 Leaked Images
The most recent leaks surfaced in a Facebook group by a user Towkay Vortex, who received these images from a Chinese manufacturer. The users analyzed a set of images showcasing what appears to be the Nintendo Switch 2.
The photos highlight two USB-C ports located on the top and bottom of the console, a noticeable shift from the current model. There’s also a U-shaped kickstand at the back. Large speaker grills (or possibly bigger ventilation ports) are visible, suggesting improved audio quality or better cooling for enhanced performance.
One intriguing detail is an additional button on the right-hand controller, marked with a “C.” Speculation is rampant about its purpose, with theories ranging from camera functionality to casting features, in-game chat, or even something entirely new.
Alongside these hardware tweaks, the leaked images showcased six unique silicone case designs, hinting at a range of customization options for the console. Check out the leaked images below.
While these leaks are exciting, it’s important to approach them with caution. Nintendo has not officially confirmed any of this information, and design prototypes can change significantly before a product’s release.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen potential glimpses of the Switch 2. Earlier this month, leaked images from another Chinese manufacturer revealed Joy-Con designs that appeared slightly more ergonomic, with a revised button layout.
Later, a report from Foxconn Technology suggested that Nintendo Switch 2 is already in mass production with units already available to ship in the warehouse. Most recently, another leak featured a “ZenGrip 2” accessory, allegedly designed for the Switch 2.
All four of these alleged Nintendo Switch 2 designs share one intriguing detail: a new button located on the bottom-right corner of the console. This consistent feature across the leaks raises questions about its purpose and potential functionality.
As for what’s been officially confirmed, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that the Switch 2 console will have backward compatibility. “Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Online will be available on the successor to Nintendo Switch as well,” said Furukawa in a post on X (Twitter).
