Bungie has responded to Destiny 2 player questions after the Year of Prophecy reveal, confirming vault space upgrades, stat changes, power refresh, and Renegades story clarification.
Following the big Destiny 2 showcase this week, Bungie has now addressed some of the community’s most pressing questions about the upcoming Year of Prophecy. The new story kicks off with the Edge of Fate expansion on July 15, 2025, followed by Renegades later in December.
This marks the beginning of a multi-expansion saga that introduces new features, powers, and locations, while also switching to two paid expansions per year. Since the reveal, some players have raised concerns about the second expansion, Renegades, mainly because it’s a full expansion tied to Bungie’s collaboration with Lucasfilm.
Now, Bungie has answered some of the burning questions about what to expect from the next year of Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy Updates: Vault Space, Power Refresh, and More
In the latest This Week in Destiny blog post, Bungie addressed several key questions from the community, including the story direction of the Renegades expansion, vault space upgrades, power level changes, and more. Here’s a full breakdown of what’s been confirmed so far:
Destiny 2: Renegades is fully canon:
Renegades, which has drawn direct comparisons to Star Wars with its tone and design, and even sound effects, is still very much a Destiny story. Destiny 2’s Assistant Game Director Robbie Stevens confirmed that it’s “in-canon,” using Destiny’s own characters and lore. It’s just exploring a different aesthetic.
“Rest assured, Guardians – everything in Renegades is in-canon for the Destiny universe, but we’re leaning into the aesthetic, tone, and vibe of Star Wars to tell a Destiny story with Destiny characters,” said Stevens.
Vault space upgrade is coming, but not with Edge of Fate:
Many players hoped for more vault space with Edge of Fate, but Bungie confirmed that there will be no vault space increase when it launches in July. However, it did say more vault space and other quality-of-life features are planned for the Renegades expansion later this year.
“Vault space is not changing in The Edge of Fate, but we do have additional vault space and quality of life features planned for Renegades later this year,” the article reads.
The Portal is not replacing the Director in Destiny 2:
Bungie already confirmed this last year in a series of blog posts tied to Codename Frontiers (now known as Year of Prophecy). Still, the reveal stream left some fans concerned that the classic Director map might be removed.
Bungie has now clarified that the Director in Destiny 2 is staying and will be accessible through a new “Worlds” tab. The new Portal feature is being added to help players navigate content more easily and see what to do next.
Power levels are being refreshed:
During the reveal, some gear was shown with a 10 Power rating, which confused a lot of players. Bungie has now confirmed that Power will be rebased at the start of Edge of Fate. All players will have their Power refreshed
“We’ll have more details on Power caps and climbs in a future TWID, but can confirm that Power will be rebased at launch! All players will have their Power refreshed as we embark on this new journey,” said Bungie.
Reward Pass pricing confirmed:
Each of the four Year of Prophecy Reward Passes will cost 1000 Silver when bought separately from Eververse. These passes will include an exotic weapon, a full universal ornament set, and other cosmetics, similar to what players are used to from seasonal passes in previous years.
Bungie also reminded players that this is just the start of its communication plan. More answers will come through dedicated posts, interviews, and even another livestream closer to launch.
In other related news, there’s been a new development in the ongoing lawsuit where a writer has accused Bungie of allegedly copying their work for Destiny 2’s original Red War and Curse of Osiris story campaign, both of which are now vaulted.
