Destiny 2 Bans ‘A Large Number of Accounts’ For Cheating and Code of Conduct Violations

Bungie

Bungie has banned “a large number” of Destiny 2 accounts for breaking Terms of Service.

Destiny 2 is one of the most popular online games, offering both PvP and PvE experiences. However, ever since the game’s launch on PC, cheating has been a persistent issue, frustrating players in both competitive matches and PvE activities, like raids, and dungeons.

Bungie, the game’s developer, has been vocal about its zero-tolerance policy toward cheaters. The studio has not only targeted individuals but also taken legal action against cheat providers, securing several big wins in court.

The developer has targeted cheaters with ban waves in the past, and this week, it has rolled out another one.

Bungie Cracks Down on Destiny 2 Cheaters With a New Ban Wave

This latest ban wave was announced by the official Destiny 2 Team account on X (Twitter). In the post, Bungie revealed that it had banned a significant number of accounts violating its Terms of Service and Code of Conduct.

“This week, we have banned a large number of accounts that were breaking our Terms of Service, either by cheating or through violations of our Code of Conduct,” the developer said.

According to Bungie, the bans addressed two main issues: cheating and an exploit involving external tools. The exploit bypassed Bungie Name filters, allowing players to create offensive in-game names. Bungie stated that it is banning accounts involved in this behavior and is actively working on a solution to prevent similar issues in the future.

“Additionally, we are investigating an exploit involving the use of an external tool that’s circumventing our in-game Bungie Name filters. We are banning accounts engaging in this conduct and actively working towards a solution to prevent names that break our Code of Conduct from being exposed to our players.”
