A simple, step-by-step guide to help you complete Destiny 2’s “En Passant” triumph with solutions for all the chess puzzles.
Last week, Bungie added the first part of a new Destiny 2 puzzle, which required players to collect 60 hidden chess pieces. That was just the beginning. Now, with this week’s reset, the second part has gone live, and it involves an actual chessboard puzzle that you can access within Eris Morn’s Throne World.
It’s tied to a triumph called “En Passant,” and your job is to recreate a series of chess positions using in-game mechanics. This guide will walk you through where to find the puzzle, how it works, and exactly how to solve every step.
Destiny 2: How To Get To the Chess Puzzle Area
To get to the chess puzzle area, head to Eris Morn’s Apartment from the HELM. Enter the portal to her Throne World. There’s a hidden room located underneath the main area. Inside that room, you’ll now find a full chessboard that you can interact with with a text prompt, “Pick up the King?”
Doing so will load you into an activity called “Unknown Antechamber.” After completing it for the first time, you can re-launch it anytime from a new node in the Last City destination.
Destiny 2: How The Chess Puzzle Works
Once you’re in the activity, you’ll be standing in front of a real in-game chessboard. Your job is to put pieces in specific positions. You’ll need to interact with various special nodes (think of them like control switches) to place, remove, or modify pieces on the board. Each node is clearly labeled with icons and text:
- Piece Plates: One for each chess piece (rook, bishop, knight, pawn, queen). Stand on the plate, shoot a square, and that piece appears there.
- Delete Node: On the left side, there’s a plate that allows you to delete a piece. Stand on this and shoot a square to remove the piece from it.
- Take Node: On the right side, there’s a node that allows you to take pieces.
- Undo Node: Takes back your last move.
- Start Over Node: Resets the whole board to its starting state.
