Crota’s End raid is finally here in Destiny 2, and with that, Bungie has also added its raid exotic, Necrochasm to the game. Compared to the original exotic from Destiny 1, Necrochasm will see some updates in several aspects of the weapon.

The original question in Destiny 1 required players to upgrade the weapon from the Common Husk of the Pit to the Legendary Eidolon Ally, which would turn into the exotic Necrochasm after completing its objectives. It looks like the exotic quest in Destiny 2 might follow a similar pattern.

Before we get started, Bungie has confirmed that if you complete the Crota’s End when the Contest mode is active (first 48 hours), you will get a guaranteed Necrochasm exotic drop. In this guide, we will talk about how you can acquire Necrochasm in the reprised Crota’s End raid, as well as its exotic catalyst, perks, and stats.

Destiny 2 Necrochasm Bottomless Put Quest

To start, you first need to defeat Crota, Son of Oryx, in the final encounter of the Crota’s End raid and claim the exotic quest called Bottomless Pit from the Sword of Crota vendor. After you claim the exotic quest, it will give you a Common (white) variant of the Necrochasm called Husk of the Pit.

Step 1 — Defeat 100 Hive with Husk of the Pit

Do not dismantle this weapon as it is required to progress the quest. After getting Husk of the Pit, you will need to defeat a total of one hundred Hive enemy combatants anywhere in the system with this weapon. However, defeating Hive in the Crota’s End raid grants additional progress.

The fastest way is to hop in the Altars of Sorrow on the Moon where you can easily get 100 Hive final blows with the weapon.

Step 2 — Collect Essence of the Oversoul

After you defeat 100 Hive enemies with Husk of the Pit, your quest will progress and you will get another similar-looking weapon called Eidolon Ally. This is a Legendary variant of the exotic Necrochasm that will be fully Masterworked.

To progress the second step, you must collect twenty Essence of the Oversoul. There are two ways you can collect the Essence in Destiny 2: by finishing raid encounters in the Crota’s End raid or by completing the Crota’s End raid Triumphs.

The good news is that the Essence of the Oversoul is retroactive, meaning if you’ve collected any before getting the exotic quest, it will still count as one.

Step 3 — Claim Necrochasm

Once you collect twenty Essence and complete the second step, you can claim the Necochasm exotic from the Sword of Crota vendor after completing the raid, which means you will have to defeat Crota once again in the Crota’s End raid.

Necrochasm Weapon Lore

You can find the complete lore for Necrochasm below.

“Is your Light bright enough to stand in full gaze of the Hive’s abyss?

Arise for Crota, Son of Oryx, the Hope-Eater!

He who has seized the Sky lair above Ceres, which peers into other planes, now vassal to the might of the Worldbreaker!

Within these keyholes our brood communes with unheard voices. They who whisper that the curse of our Thralls is a blessing granted by the Deep.

Now, in honor of the God-Knight, we fashion these gluttonous whispers into death. His Hellmouth becomes home to the profane: the corpse of the Sky, reborn in the abyss. — Enkaar, the Anointed”
