A recent Destiny 2 datamine hints at the return of the fan-favorite Superblack shader during the Festival of the Lost 2024 event.

The Superblack shader is one of the most popular cosmetics in Destiny’s history. Originally introduced in Destiny 1, this shader quickly became a fan favorite for its ability to cloak players in a sleek, all-black look.

Since Destiny 2’s launch in 2017, players have been requesting Bungie to bring back this beloved shader. Earlier this year, their wishes came true when Superblack returned as part of the free Into the Light update.

However, the shader was available for a limited time, leaving many players who missed out still waiting for its return. Now, it seems there might be another chance for players to get their hands on the Superblack shader.

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2024: Superblack Shader Returning?

With the launch of Episode Revenant, Bungie updated Destiny 2’s API to add new seasonal content, including weapons, armor, and cosmetics. Within this update, players spotted that Superblack could make a return during the Festival of the Lost 2024 event, slated to begin on October 29.

According to the datamined information, a triumph associated with the Festival of the Lost title “Ghost Writer” lists three rewards: an Ascendant Shard, an Ascendant Alloy, and, the Superblack shader. The triumph requires players to complete fifteen event-related challenges, potentially giving those who missed the shader earlier this year another opportunity to earn it.

If you didn’t manage to snag Superblack back in May, this could be your chance to finally claim it. However, we suggest to take this news with a grain of salt. Datamined content is never a guarantee, as items found in the game’s API are often subject to change or may not make it into the final release.

Bungie has not yet confirmed the return of the Superblack shader during Festival of the Lost 2024. For now, it’s best to stay cautiously optimistic and keep an eye out for official announcements.

In other news, another datamine suggests that the upcoming Festival of the Lost 2024 event will allow players to earn Exotic Class Items from Eva Levante.

Destiny 2 Episode Revenant is now live on all platforms.
