Everything We Might See During the Edge of Fate Reveal
Let’s start with Edge of Fate itself. According to leaks, this expansion is launching on July 15, 2025, and will kick off Destiny 2’s new two-expansion-per-year model. Bungie will likely go over the expansion’s story setup, which has been teased to be focused around the Nine (finally!), new gameplay systems and features, location, raid details, and how it connects to the next multi-year saga.
Since pre-orders are expected to go live right after the reveal, Bungie will likely share full pricing details for the new expansion model. One thing that’s already confirmed is the Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition, which seems to be replacing the old “Expansion + Annual Pass Edition” from previous years.
One major reveal we already know is coming is the Edge of Fate Collector’s Edition. Priced at $275 (with game code), this premium bundle includes:
- A 1/8 scale statue of all three Guardian classes
- A manila envelope full of lore documents
- A metal badge tied to the Stranger’s story
- A digital soundtrack and exclusive in-game emblem
Bungie will also go over the game’s new release structure. Instead of one large yearly expansion followed by four paid seasons, the game will now get two medium-sized expansions annually, with four free major updates spread throughout the year. This change is meant to simplify things and make more content available to all players.
We’re also expecting more details on The Portal, a new interface that will replace the current Director. This will act as a central hub for all active content, streamlining the experience and making navigation easier. Bungie is also experimenting with non-linear campaign design, drawing inspiration from roguelikes and Metroidvania-style games to give players more freedom in how they experience the story.
Like previous expansions, Edge of Fate will include a brand-new raid, which is expected to launch just three days later on July 18, 2025, though that date hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. Bungie has said we’ll learn more about the raid during the reveal.
Thanks to the Collector’s Edition leak, we also know the name of the second expansion coming later in the Year of Prophecy. It’s titled Renegades (formerly codenamed Behemoth), and it’s very likely we’ll hear more about it during the event, possibly even a release date.
Right after the showcase, Bungie will launch Rite of the Nine, a limited-time dungeon-focused event that runs until the next expansion. It features rotating dungeons, difficulty tiers, and new weapons tied to the Nine faction.
We’ll be covering everything as it happens on Destiny Bulletin, but in the meantime, what are you hoping to see during the reveal? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
