In early 2021, Bungie announced that it plans to expand its flagship IP—Destiny, into other additional media, including TV, films, books, comics, and more. Since then, the company has hired some big names in the industry, from former Riot Games‘ Animated Shorts Director, to very recently, a former Warner Bros. Discovery Executive for Destiny transmedia projects.
Additionally, it seems like we might have our first mention of Destiny animated and live-action projects from Bungie, thanks to a new survey that was sent out to a select group of players.

Bungie’s recent survey (sent to TGP) unveils their interest in expanding the Destiny universe. Alongside other questions, the survey asked players how they would like to engage with the Destiny franchise beyond just playing the video games.
“For each of the following games and their respective franchises, which of the following ways would you be interested in engaging with each franchise?”
The questions featured multiple options, including Board Games, Live Action movies and TV shows, music, books, and comics. You can check out the complete list below.

- Music
- Collectibles (e.g., Action Figures, Figurines, Branded Items)

One main thing to note here is that this specific question also mentions that “any of these options could become available for the franchise,” which is true for a couple of listed options. There are already five volumes of Destiny Grimoire Anthology books, as well as Destiny comics.
But the most interesting part of this is obviously the TV and film projects that the developer seems to be working on. Earlier this year, TGP reported that the Head of the Destiny Transmedia projects departed Bungie, after over a year of working at the company.
Previously, there have been several job listings on the company’s careers website, one of which heavily suggests a Destiny animated project in the works. As far as the official announcement goes, Bungie has yet to reveal any details on what fans can expect for the future of the Destiny universe in films and TV.
Apart from this, Destiny 2‘s final chapter in the Light and Darkness saga will go live in early 2024, ending a 10-year-long continuous storyline for the game. Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 will continue after the release of The Final Shape expansion.
